What is in Protandim

What’s the amazing ingredients in Protandim? Why does it work? Also!  Who makes this product and is it science based?

Protandim is a product made by Lifevantage. It is based on the studies of Dr Jo McCord .  Jo Milton McCord (born March 3, 1945) is an American biochemist. While serving as a graduate student, he and his supervisor Irwin Fridovich were the first to describe the enzymatic activity of superoxide dismutase.

There are two main protandim products to use for improving your energy and reducing painful inflammation.

Protandim Nrf1

Using nutrigenomics, our research shows that keeping your mitochondria functioning at peak performance starts with the NRF1 pathway. By activating the pathway, Protandim NRF1 Synergizer turns on mitochondrial function and biogenesis. Like flipping a light switch, Protandim NRF1 Synergizer instructs your cells to produce more mitochondria. And that gives your cells the energy you need to feel more active, alert, and younger.

Acetyl L-Carnitine

An amino acid (a building block for proteins) that is naturally produced in the body. Combined with Alpha Lipoic Acid, these two ingredients help enhance cellular energy levels.

Quercetin is a naturally occurring antioxidant, a flavonoid that is abundant in various fruits and vegetables; it is a NRF1 activator. Quercetin is a polyphenol —which supports ATP synthesis.

Alpha-Lipoic Acid

Alpha lipoic acid, or ALA, is made in the body and helps to turn glucose into energy that the cell can use.

Grape Extract

This extract contains powerful natural Stilbenoids (Resveratrol and viniferin

Coenzyme Q10

It is made in the body and resides primarily in mitochondria where it plays a key role in transporting electrons so ATP is made. Combined with Alpha Lipoic Acid, it supports cellular energy levels.

Protandim Nrf2

Aging’s secret unlocked.
The sun, the the air, even sleeping — life takes its toll. Protandim, a patented formula, supplements what daily living takes out. Free Radicals, generated through the process of living life (eating, sleeping, breathing, exercising), are inevitable for everyone. Turmeric (Curcuma longa) is a rhizomatous herbaceous perennial plant of the ginger family Zingiberaceae. Native to tropical South Asia, it needs temperatures between 20°C and 30°C, as well as a considerable amount of annual rainfall, to thrive.
Green tea (Camellia sinensis) comes from a plant native to Asia called Camellia Sinensis, the same plant that is the source of black tea. What makes green tea different, and green, is not the plant used to make the tea, but how it is processed.
(Bacopa monnieri) extract is taken from the succulent leaves of a small creeping plant commonly found growing throughout damp and marshy wetlands of India. This herb, with its small white flowers, is often mistaken for a water lily, although the two are related.
The milk thistle (Silybum marianum) is a tall, flowering plant with spiny stems and toothed, thorny leaves. Native to the Mediterranean, this plant can now be found throughout the world.
Ashwagandha (Withania somnifera) grows as a short shrub with a central stem from which branches extend radially in a star pattern and covered with a dense matte of wooly hairs. The flowers are small and green, while the ripe fruit is orange-red and has milk-coagulating properties.
